    In the "Unbelievable" category

Just got invited to be on “Wife Swap” — yes, reality television rears its ugly head. Because of the AP article, which is ALL OVER the world today and yesterday (Eric K’s mom called from Baltimore to say she’d seen it — and it’s all over Canada, etc.), a producer at NBC saw it and thought I’d be good fodder for the show. Fodder would be the word. Like, something to put through the machine, get chewed up and shat out. Seriously. Can you imagine? With whom would they match me — to be my opposite family? I’m not a super crunchy granola hippy, as I said in the article…

    the end, and the beginning

I think, I think Measure H passed — by 105 votes? That’s the last I heard, and we posted it to the Web but our story for tomorrow still says losing by one vote. At least we didn’t say it had totally lost in big letters. That’s a plus-one for us this week. However, there is a distinct disadvantage to a weekly cycle, mainly, that life goes on no matter when your press run is. So there we are. Tonight our Mia comes in. Friday our Moni graduates. I was not feeling well (see prev entry) so did not make it to two Saturday events but we still had 10,000 guests coming over, well, maybe just 75 or so of our closest friends, so on with the show. We did indeed have that fiesta and it was FABU! Truly fun, with chips and salsa and guac coming out our ears, not literally — but all of it delicious — and then an astoundingly scrumptious array of potluck Mex fare. So yummy. Lots of…

    two steps forward

one baby step back…Mother, may I? Big fiesta at our place tomorrow — El Tres de Mayo, so come if you want to. Wear your huaraches and bring a Mexican dish to share (we have chips and salsa to feed a platoon, so skip those), and a tasty beverage of choice. BBQ will be going if you want to cook meat-like things. Firepit will be going if you want to get warm, in case it’s cold, which it will be. It always is out here in Scotland, I mean, Alameda Point. Fiesta is 3 pm to 10 pm and not a minute later. I need my beauty rest, and so…

Monday Monday, and guess what’s happening on Wednesday? Gov. Schwarzenegger is scheduled to speak at the Bay Area Council Outlook Conference here in Alameda @ the Hornet April 16. http://www.bayareacouncil.org/events_outlook_conference.php Registration ($500 per seat) starts at 7:30 a.m., program is 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., and the Governor is scheduled to speak at 10:30 a.m.http://www.bayareacouncil.org/outlook2008/Outlook_Run_of_show.pdf Be there — I will (or one of my compatriots). Spent the weekend in the garden (see Backyard Bliss for updates and pix). Ran around Berkeley with teens. Went to Erin’s all-chick 40th birthday party Saturday evening, then home for date night with Husband. Friday night was the home opener for Husband’s softball team, and…
