    sad sunday

just a note of follow up about Elvis the cat, who may not make it much longer. He’s just not well, poor guy. Without going into great detail, suffice it to say he won’t eat anymore (it’s been more than a week) and is slowly starving, so this may be his last night. Very sad here for Mr Husband and kids. Thanks for asking, friends. * * * I did not make it to the St P’s Day race this morning — have been tending E most of the weekend. This looks to be a crazy week (what other kind is there?). Corned beef and cabbage for 20+ tomorrow night…

    daffy days

I took this photo this morning — daffodils bursting into bloom at Alameda Point (at the old entrance gate at Atlantic). We have just ONE daffodil at our house — in a container in the front, a bulb I didn’t even know was there. But it doesn’t feel like spring until a daffodil blooms.Rain caught us by surprise the other night — I left a bunch of stuff outside — tablecloth on the table, pillows on the chairs, some other rescued chairs on the front patio — all soaked, along with cardboard boxes and garden gloves and the bowl of cat kibble. Yuk. At least I don’t have to water…

    after the ball…

This was a very challenging weekend. Saturday we cleaned and baked cakes, then I went to LunaFest, for which I did set-up and MC’d the first show. Then I dashed home (in 3-inch heels) to hostess the after-party at my house AND prep the prom party for my two girls. Alameda High’s junior prom — very exciting! (and costly…) We literally had 2 parties going at once — about 12 prom kids and parents having a potluck and taking photos, and a dozen or so Luna ladies drinking wine and ooohing over the prom kids. Then they left, and we waited up for prom kids — who arrived after midnight.…

    cat lady

it has happened. I have three kittens on my lap or desk, one of them smells like litter box, no one is fessing up, and they will not stop purring. It’s a little kitten circus here. They think typing is for their entertainmentnm m, (ick. Now Ophelia and Delilah are fighting for lap space. And swatting each other’s tails. And — ew, stop that. Licking each other in inappropriate places. Sisters. (sigh). Whatcha gonna do? The kids love the kittens except when it’ time to clean the litter box. Why did I know this would happen? I was hopeful…oops, Stinky Norma Jean is back. Licking her paws. Sitting on my…

what was i thinking? Part XXX

We got the kittenS (plural). Three of them. They think they own the place. In fact, they do own the place. This is what they look like right now, sleeping on top of a manuscript box in my office. On top of each other, as well. Because it was a buy one-get one free sale (seriously! They called it a “2 Fur” sale) at the shelter, I also got a budgie — a blue parakeet we named Jamaica. S/he was silent and woudn’t eat for the first 24 hours but now is fluttering around and chirping and eating and watching us from the corner of its eye. It’s just three…
