Chinese New Year II
I’m falling behind again (so what ese is new?), mostly because of lots of deadlines and clients. But, per the headline above, we celebrated Chinese New Year earlier this week, just because, by serving up a feast of yummy stuff (rice, vegetable and shrimp stir fry, hot and sour soup, pot stickers, fortune cookies, and chow mein noodles, not in that order). We also watched this terrible but also terribly funny kung fu spoof movie called Kung Pow which is so stupid I won’t even try to bore you with the plot, but it’s kind of like Police Academy or Airplane, making fun of the cliches of Chinese action movies.…

MiaMia Oh My
Missive from Mia I have discovered a new passion for bikram yoga. It’s true! It’s absolutely incredible! Even in my dance classes, i don’t know if i have been able to completely block out EVERYTHING and not care that i am sweating buckets and have frizzy hair and smell and let my gut hang out etc. haha. it’s really amazing. i thought i’d be good at it, what with the dancing and all but actually, it’s completely different and wow — i’m amazed. this studio just opened up right around the corner (one of the only five in england) and so we got a 10 classes for £10 deal, which…

Free at Last
Finally got off jury duty, with my integrity intact. Although I would have liked to have fed them a line about my white supremacy activities or my hatred of lawyers or belief that people are guilty until proven innocent, I rather found myself compelled to give my best to the process and was brutally honest in my answers. The fact that I am a journalist who is working on a story about a club where some of the action of the crime took place was pretty much enough to get me dismissed. But I hung in there until the end. So I guess I have a six-month reprieve until I’m…
