Poolside Post
Just a word to note that I’ll be on holiday, as they say, July 1-10, and not likely to be able to post or reply to e-mail. If I can find a wireless connection somewhere in town, maybe at a McDonald’s or something, I will check in. Otherwise, miss me like I miss you. We’re staying in a friend’s house in Arnold (actually Blue Lake Springs) which is a cool place to take families. There’s room for everyone in the house and we’re having various friends and family join us for the trek: Annie and Stuart and Stanley, Steve and Stella and Cole, Mia and Davin. Somewhere in there, Mr.…

Everything Must Go!
UPDATE: FYI, these items have found a home: Sofa-bed and throws, two coffee tables, blue dresser, Moderne porch settee, lime-cream-gold rug, Moderne bookcase. FYI, there is more stuff to list soon — I think we have a brownish-orange tweed recliner perfect for a guy’s garage or hang-put space (it’s kind of itchy to sit on, IMHO). * A pair of matching twin-sized quilts in pastels — mostly pink and blue and cream. Lots of other bedding, too (sheets in yellow and blue, a red dust ruffle with matching sham, double-wedding-ring pattern quilty things) * A sewing machine (Montgomery Ward brand) — basic stitches, not fancy embroidery or anything. Good basic…

Ass-Kicking Deluxe
Mr. Unhusband and I have been sleeping in. Like, way in. It’s bad. Sinful, almost. Except not. Sometimes you’ve just got to listen to your body and sleep. And sleep. And sleep. For some reason, this past weekend, that’s all I think I did. I know I ran around and collected boxes for my move and worked on the mailing list for Red Hills Review that was destroyed in the Great PC Meltdown at the Sun last month. I know I did laundry and dishes. I know I went to San Francisco and shopped till I dropped (you should see my new jacket) (and purse) (and shoes) (and earrings); saw…

Heart Palpitations
Criminey sakes, as my eldest daughter says. Busy days. The last few days — well, actually, all of June so far — have been really full, with last-minute community service, term papers, tutoring and a graduation on my kid-and-school agenda. My youngest announced to me two weeks before school ended that she had 20 hours of community service to do before school got out June 17. “And just when did you expect this to happen?” I asked her. She replied that if she did 5 hours a day she would be done in 4 days. Ha! Ha! I say. Because any community service she has to do, I would have…

Strange
Just a brief post (ha! as if...) to say that on my Mac at work, the blog looks strange, with weird symbols. But it looks perfectly lovely here on my PC. Strange. I was a judge at the annual sandcastle competition (literally what it sounds like, far-flung fans — a sandcastle and sand sculpture contest held on the beach every year). It was a lot of fun and such a beautiful day. I got a little pink in the cheeks from the sun but not too bad. BBE has a new name — he’s now the Unhusband (which makes me the Unwife). Perfect, because while we were both unhappily married,…
